Track
Track 3: 340B Patient Impact
Description
Traditional facility-based health care often falls short of meeting the needs of vulnerable populations, especially when those needs go beyond health care and into the social determinants of health. 340B savings often provide the opportunity to try new approaches-sometimes approaches that involve programs and services that are not reimbursable. Often these programs involve meeting the patients where they are or providing patients with non-health care services to make it possible to meet their health care needs.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss how 340B savings can support programs that go beyond the four walls to improve health outcomes for patients with low incomes
- Identify examples of how 340B savings can be used to meet patients where they are
- Describe specific challenges low-income patients with low incomes face in accessing care and how these challenges can be addressed with 340B investments
- Identify examples of social determinants of health that can be addressed with 340B savings
